Dem time to party ![]() P
DEM BEACH IS MINE! That could have very well been the theme song for the thank you picnic offered to many Democratic Labour Party supporters who flooded Batts Rock Beach, Fitts Village, St James, yesterday afternoon. The event, which started early in the afternoon, drew crowds from all walks of life, including hundreds of boys from "on the block". They came to eat, lime, enjoy the splendid Sunday sun and party to the sounds of Barbados' top deejays like L'il Rick and Bard International as well as calypsonian Grynner who had them dancing in the sand to favourite tunes like Mr T in which he replaced the "T" with the name "Owen" and Let Go I Hand and Kimberley Inniss who had waistlines gyrating to her popular song Hips. And, even though Prime Minister David Thompson did not arrive until in the evening, it didn't stop those attending from embracing their Members of Parliament like Kenny Best and John Boyce, or candidates who lost, like Francis DePeiza and Haldene Dottin. "I too happy for all of them, even the ones who lost, because David [Thompson] will find a place for them to help them out," said one senior who asked that her name not be used. Then there was one little girl waiting patiently with her grandmother, and when asked why she was there, she said: "I come to see my Prime Minister." (TM) 2008-01-28 11:08:50 GMT
